Panch Shila Co-operative House Building Society Ltd.
was the brain- child of Mr. R.P.Barman. He along with
his five close friends mooted the idea of developing
a modern residential neighborhood within the parameters
of the Cooperative Act. The Society was formed in the
year 1968 and was named Panch Shila Park. Unfortunately,
except for Mr. Barman and Chowdhary Raghuvendra Singh
, the other three did not survive to see the dream materializing.
Panch Shila Club - the hub of main activities of
the residents, Panch Shila Montessori School and Primary
School were also a part of that great dream of five
originators. These units came into existence shortly
there after. To make Panch Shila Park a self sufficient
in its primary daily needs, Mr. Barman ensured the
development of a small shopping centre, a fruit &
vegetable store, a general cooperative store and two
milk supply booths in the colony.
